Smoked Sausage and Rice Skillet

A one-pan dish with smoked sausage, sautéed veggies, and perfectly cooked rice. This hearty meal is flavorful and easy to prepare, making it a perfect weeknight dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • For the Skillet:
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup onion diced small
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 12 ounces smoked sausage sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli chopped
  • 1 cup yellow bell pepper sliced
  • 1 cup red bell pepper sliced
  • 2 cups minute rice or regular rice, cooked
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Get Prepped: Chop vegetables, mince garlic, grate cheese, and cook rice.
  • Cook the Rice: Follow package instructions for rice.
  • Sauté the Onion, Garlic, and Sausage: Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet, cook onion for 4 minutes, then add garlic and sausage, cooking for 2 minutes.
  • Add the Vegetables and Cook: Add bell peppers and broccoli, cover, and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add Rice and Seasoning: Stir in the cooked rice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Add Cheese (Optional): Stir in cheese and let it melt into the mixture.
  • Serve: Garnish with fresh herbs and serve.
