  • 5 to 6 apples 5 to 6 apples, peeled and sliced Use a mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp for best flavor.

Topping

  • 1 cup 1 cup rolled oats Do not use instant oats.
  • 1 cup 1 cup brown sugar Packed firmly.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For flavor enhancement.
  • 1 stick 1 stick butter, melted Equal to half a cup.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel and slice the apples and place them in an 8x8 baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Pour in melted butter and mix until the mixture resembles crumbly wet sand.
  • Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the sliced apples.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 to 45 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling around the edges.
  • Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, slice apples evenly about 1/4 inch thick, and do not pack the topping down. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for added flavor.
