Cooking

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as you go.
  • Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the pot, stirring until the onions soften — about 3-5 minutes.
  • Pour in the shell pasta, followed by the chicken broth and Italian seasoning. Bring to a gentle simmer, ensuring that the pasta is submerged in the broth.
  • Cover the pot and let it cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed most of the liquid.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cream cheese and shredded mozzarella until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Dish the pasta into bowls, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Can freeze for later use. Reheat with a splash of broth or water.
