Ingredients
  

Taco Ingredients

  • 500 g 500 g / 1 lb ground beef
  • 10 to 12 pieces 10 to 12 crispy taco shells or soft tortillas
  • 1 tbsp 1 tbsp oil for sautéing
  • 2 cloves 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 65 ml 1/4 cup / 65ml water
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 2 tsp 2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional) for heat
  • 1 tsp 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp 1/4 tsp black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup Shredded cheese to taste
  • 1 cup Shredded iceberg lettuce to taste
  • 2 medium 2 tomatoes, chopped to taste
  • 1/2 medium 1/2 red or white onion, chopped to taste
  • 1 cup Sour cream to taste
  • 1 cup Taco sauce (optional) to taste
  • Other toppings: coriander/cilantro, jalapeño, hot sauce, pickled chilies, salsa sauce, pico de gallo to personal preference

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, cooking until they become translucent and fragrant.
  • Incorporate the ground beef into the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook it until it’s browned and completely cooked through.
  • Stir in the tomato paste and water. Then add garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let everything cook together until it is heated through.

Assembly and Serving

  • Stuff the beef mixture into your taco shells or tortillas. Top with shredded cheese and place them in the oven.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve the tacos hot with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, onions, sour cream, and any additional toppings you desire.

Notes

Store leftovers in airtight containers, keeping the beef filling and toppings separate. Beef can be stored for up to 3 days, and veggies/toppings for 1-2 days. You can freeze the beef mixture for up to 2 months.
