Hot Dog Burnt Ends

Ingredients
  

  • Main Ingredients:
  • 3 32 oz packages hot dogs
  • cup BBQ sauce
  • cup yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup brown sugar divided

Instructions
 

  • Preheat and Prep
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • Slice and Arrange
  • Slice the hot dogs into thirds or quarters, depending on their size.
  • Arrange the pieces in the prepared baking dish in an even layer.
  • Mix the Sauce
  • Whisk together the BBQ sauce, mustard, and liquid smoke in a bowl.
  • Pour the sauce over the hot dog pieces, tossing to coat evenly.
  • Prepare the Seasoning
  • Mix paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small dish.
  • Reserve ¼ cup of the brown sugar for later. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the hot dogs for even coverage.
  • Bake to Perfection
  • Bake the hot dogs in the oven for 1 hour, tossing halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Sweeten and Crisp
  • Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the reserved ¼ cup of brown sugar over the top.
  • Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and return the dish to the oven.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the burnt ends are caramelized and crispy.
  • Serve and Enjoy
  • Remove the Hot Dog Burnt Ends from the oven and serve warm. Pair them with deli salads and coleslaw, or serve as a snack with your favourite dipping sauces.
