Chicken Parmesan Stromboli

Ingredients
  

  • For the Filling:
  • 2 cups cooked chicken shredded
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • For the Dough:
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • Olive oil for brushing
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures the dough bakes evenly and the filling heats through.
  • Prepare the Filling:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and Italian seasoning. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Tip: Use freshly shredded cheese for the best melting consistency and flavor.
  • Roll Out the Dough:
  • On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle. This shape helps with even distribution of the filling.
  • Add the Filling:
  • Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. This border makes it easier to seal the dough when rolling.
  • Roll the Dough:
  • Carefully roll the dough from one end to the other to form a log shape. Pinch the ends and edges to seal, ensuring the filling stays inside.
  • Tip: Roll tightly to prevent the filling from spilling out during baking.
  • Prepare for Baking:
  • Place the Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with olive oil for a golden, crispy crust.
  • Using a sharp knife, make small diagonal slits on top of the dough to allow steam to escape as it bakes.
  • Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  • Tip: Check the bottom of the Stromboli to ensure it’s fully cooked and not doughy.
  • Serve:
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
