Ingredients
  

For the Beef and Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef Use high-quality for better flavor.
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 TBSP minced garlic
  • 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce Adds a kick.
  • 3 TBSP butter For flavor and sauce base.
  • 3 TBSP flour Used for thickening the sauce.
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream At room temperature to prevent curdling.
  • Fresh or dried parsley For garnish.

For the Noodles

  • 10 oz medium egg noodles Cook according to package directions.

Preparation

  • Heat a large pot of water on the stove and cook the egg noodles according to the directions on the package.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and chopped onion. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and onion powder. Cook until the beef is done, then drain excess grease.

Sauce Preparation

  • Reduce the heat to medium, add minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce, and stir well.
  • Add butter and let it melt, then add flour, cooking for at least one minute.
  • Stir in beef broth and cook until the mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat, stir in sour cream, then mix in cooked egg noodles.

Serving

  • Garnish with parsley and serve. Pair with a salad or steamed vegetables.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Consider storing sauce and noodles separately to maintain texture. You can freeze Beef Stroganoff, but freeze the sauce and noodles separately for best results.
